MINIVOYAGE - Saint Louis, Senegal - Part1

Added on by martine nicolay.

Since the beginning of the year, we have been traveling outside of Dakar a few times and discovering Senegal. It is beautiful.

Last weekend, we went up north to Saint Louis and spent a couple of days there with the kids. Dakar is interesting. We've got the ocean. A few highlights to see in Plateau, nice bars and restaurants at the Almadies and in between a lot of convenience. But it is exhausting to go around. I truly miss my roman daily walks.

Saint-Louis was different.  Calmer. Smaller. Colder. I liked it a lot. Let me share some photographs and some film with you from last weekend.

MINISTORY - Inside the Womb

Added on by martine nicolay.

While pregnant, I was amazed and impressed by mother nature. Every day, every week and every month tiny Léonore was growing inside of me, and it was totally out of my control. It was the strangest feeling - but 100% beautiful!

Now National Geographic released documentary called 'Extraordinary Animals in the Womb' with astonishing photographs.  As the Daily Mail writes, the photos were taken "by using a combination of three-dimensional ultrasound scans, computer graphics and small cameras to document the animals’ development from conception to birth, and give an unparalleled glimpse into a world that few of us would ever expect to see."

MINITHOUGHT - ON 2014

Added on by martine nicolay.

What are your new years's resolutions?

There were some incredible ups and downs in 2013, but I left 2013 feeling incredibly happy and humbled !

In 2014, i want to carve out more time for myself to create / to sew / to design / to build and finally tackle and finish Léonore's room (see here and here) !

I hope there are more play dates and bubble baths with Léonore, more adventures and journeys in foreign countries, more days of unplugging, more beach waves and family bike rides in 2014. I hope there are more  long phone calls with dear friends who live far away. I want to focus on my marriage, and keep on dating my husband. I want to be more courageous.

How about you? what are you hoping to discover or change or improve upon in the coming year?

Let's meet at the beach and get started with 2014... shall we?

Somewhere on the Northern California Coast (it's a secret) two masterful driftwood shack devotees cobble together a next level surf shack from salvaged wood. In fact, the shack stands to this day, and good-hearted travelers continue to make small improvements. Good luck finding it.
